Our San Francisco/Bay Area chapter is four years old and we have attracted a terrific group of women from all over the Bay Area. In the last year, we have more than doubled our membership. We hold monthly meetings in San Francisco – usually on the fourth Saturday afternoon or Thursday evening of the month – on topics of interest to women over 50, and we plan occasional special events, like our annual summer barbecue at a member's lovely home in Montara, and a cooking class with chef Emily Dellas. Of course, one of the joys of the organization is meeting other women and making personal connections. We have a number of peer groups of eight to ten women who gather at each others' homes to talk about issues of concern to them. At present, we have four on-going general interest groups in the East Bay with a new artists' peer group in formation. Another group recently got started in the Walnut Creek area. Two groups are in San Francisco, with a third one in the works, and one is in the Peninsula/Palo Alto area, with a second one about to launch. There is also a Bay Area-wide entrepreneurial group, with another in formation. New groups will form as the need and interest arise. Click here for further information about our peer groups. We have also established connections with relevant organizations in the Bay Area and expect to expand this effort in the coming year.
