Tom Brokaw doesn't have nearly as much admiration for America's "baby boom" generation as he had for its parents. But that's not the reason his CNBC special, "Tom Brokaw Reports: Boomer$," about the 74 million Americans born between 1946 and 1964, too often feels redundant, superficial and unfocused.

Since their 1998 HBO debut, the women of Sex and the City's fabulous foursome have emerged as the quintessentially "liberated ladies" of today.
